A typical dental X-ray produces flat, 2D images where underlying problems can easily be missed. Arnica’s new Cone Beam (CT) scanner produces highly detailed 3d images allowing much more comprehensive and accurate diagnosis.
One of the most advanced scanners available, the Vatech PaX-i3D Smart Scan CB (CT) scanner, with its high-definition three-dimensional images, gives a more precise, cross-sectional view of the teeth and gums. This enables clinicians to see bone structure and tooth orientation giving them a better understanding of the issues and how to fix them.
CB (CT) scans are so advanced they can show impacted teeth and how they sit with adjacent teeth as well as reveal potential problems with sensitive mouth tissue such as sinus walls and nerves. They can also identify causes of temporomandibular joint syndrome (TMJ), including injury or misalignment of the teeth or jaws.
The use of CB (CT) scans is now commonplace in the planning and implementation of dental implant surgery as they help implantologists like Practice Principal Dr Ellie Ledger and Dr Guy Bailey plan and place implants more accurately than ever.
The CB (CT) scanner, whilst comparable to medical CT scanners, uses up to ten times less radiation so is much safer.
With a more accurate diagnosis clinicians are able to choose the best treatment for their patient which ultimately results in less time in the dentist’s chair, less discomfort and anxiety, and a better success rate.
CB (CT) scans enable dentists to make a more thorough analysis of the patient’s bone structure and tooth orientation, which makes for a more accurate diagnosis, better-informed patients and better treatment planning.
For orthodontic treatment, the CB (CT) scanner can capture a large field of view that includes all the landmarks for cephalometric analysis, thereby allowing for improved orthodontic diagnosis and treatment.
